What It Is
DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide) is a naturally occurring neuropeptide first isolated from rabbit cerebral venous blood in 1974. It was originally identified for its ability to induce slow-wave (delta) sleep. It has since been studied for its effects on stress, pain, hormone regulation, and longevity.
What It Does
DSIP improves sleep quality and duration, reduces stress and anxiety, normalizes cortisol and LH rhythms, reduces pain sensitivity, has antioxidant effects, and has shown life-extending effects in animal studies. It is particularly useful for people with disrupted sleep patterns, high cortisol, or stress related health issues.
How It Works
DSIP modulates multiple neurotransmitter systems including GABA, glutamate, and serotonin. It normalizes the hypothalamic-pituitary axis, reducing dysregulated cortisol and LH patterns. The sleep-inducing effects are mediated through promotion of slow-wave sleep stages, which are critical for growth hormone release, memory consolidation, and cellular repair.
Who Benefits Most
People with poor sleep quality or insomnia. People with high cortisol or HPA axis dysregulation. People with chronic stress or anxiety. Anyone looking to improve sleep architecture and recovery. People with pain conditions that disrupt sleep.
Protocol and Dosing
Typical dose: 100 to 500 mcg injected subcutaneously 30 to 60 minutes before bed. Cycle length: 4 to 8 weeks. Can be used intermittently as needed for sleep support.
| Vial Format | Total mg | 100 mcg dose | 500 mcg dose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard vial | 5 mg | 0.02 mL / 2 units | 0.1 mL / 10 units |
Cautions
Well tolerated. May cause mild drowsiness. Best used at night before bed. Not recommended during pregnancy. Avoid operating heavy machinery after administration.
Pairs Well With
Epithalon for comprehensive sleep and circadian rhythm normalization. Sermorelin or Ipamorelin to maximize the growth hormone pulse during improved sleep. Selank for anxiety reduction alongside sleep improvement.
